François Ortalo-Magné is the ninth Dean of London Business School, a position he has held since August 2017. He is leading a strategy focused on (1) academic research and its impact, (2) learning innovations and alumni engagement and (3) inclusion, striving for gender parity and greater socio-economic and ethnic diversity. Since taking up the role, Ortalo-Magné has led the relaunch of the LBS brand, the growth of degree programmes and a significant increase in philanthropic support for scholarships.

Dean Ortalo-Magné serves on the International Advisory Board of BritishAmerican Business and on the Board of Directors and Innovation Committee of AACSB. His research on the economics of land and housing markets has been published in leading academic journals. He has built on his research and leadership experiences to advise a broad range of private, governmental and multi-lateral organisations and share his insights in leading media outlets and at conferences around the world.

Prior to his appointment, Ortalo-Magné was the Albert O. Nicholas Dean and Robert E. Wangard Professor of Real Estate at the Wisconsin School of Business. His first academic appointment was at the London School of Economics.

Qu Hongbin is Managing Director, Co-Head of Asian Economics Research, and Chief Economist for Greater China. He joined HSBC in 2002 and has been an economist in the financial markets since 1994. Hongbin is also a deputy director of research at the China Banking Association. He previously worked as a senior manager at a leading Chinese bank and other Chinese financial institutions.

Tiantian Li (“Stanley Li”) is the Founder and Chairman of DXY, the largest online community for physicians in China. Founded in 2000, and formally became a company in 2006, DXY has already covered over 2 million Chinese doctors, which is about 70% of the nationwide doctors. Stanley Li has a Bachelor’s Degree of Clinical Medicine and Master's Degree of Tumor Immunology. Stanley is a visiting professor at the Navy Medical University and Harbin Medical University. At the same time, he is also the Vice President of Zhejiang Council for Health Services Promotion, the Vice President of Health Industry Association of Heilongjiang Province.

Nicholas is a VC and a health and life sciences sector specialist.  He is a General Partner and Global Head of Health and Life Sciences Investments and a member of the investment committee at the NCL Technology Ventures. As a sector expert, Nicholas has been closely involved in the UK Government’s health and life sciences strategy, innovation policy and health and social care reforms in the past. He trained as a surgeon in London and Oxford Deaneries, with postgraduate clinical research in Neurosurgery in Cambridge. Nicholas also has a master’s degree and DIC in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London and an MBA from London Business School. He is currently an Honorary Visiting Professor at De Montfort University, Honorary Senior Fellow at the Centre of Health Innovation Research at City University of London and was a lecturer and a visiting faculty at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business in the past.

Xing is the Head of AXA Next Lab Asia. Prior joining AXA Next Asia Lab, she has 13-year accumulative experience in insurance, investment and start-ups across Australia and UK. A firm advocate for idea and cultural exchange, she co-chaired the 2016 China Business Forum and assumed a role of co-president of China Club at London Business School to bridge the dialogue on innovation and entrepreneurship between UK and China. Xing holds an M.B.A from London Business School and a BA in Actuarial Science from University of Melbourne.

Mr. Jun Wang is the head of Investment and Financing division at iQIYI. During his career at iQIYI, he has led over 50 acquisitions and minority investments. He is also responsible for corporate financing activities such as IPO and convertible bond offering. Before joining iQIYI, Mr. Jun Wang had over 16-year experience in TMT investment and banking, where he assisted a dozen of Chinese Internet companies raising over 20 billion USD through IPOs, bond offerings and syndicate loans. Jun Wang holds a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University, and an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.

Deng Yaping, Olympic champion, table tennis grand slam winner, who won eighteen world championships and four Olympic championships during her fourteen years illustrious career. She was the top-ranked woman in the world for eight consecutive years from 1991 (The longest time for continuously top-ranked female table tennis player, the record was kept by her). She was voted Chinese female athlete of the century, and joined the International Table Tennis Federation Hall of Fame in 2003. 

After her retirement, she obtained her bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University, master's degree from the University of Nottingham and doctorate from the University of Cambridge.

HERMINIA IBARRA

Charles Handy Professor of Organizational Behavior

LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL 

Herminia Ibarra is the Charles Handy Professor of Organizational Behavior at London Business School. Prior to joining LBS, she served on the INSEAD (2002-2017) and Harvard Business School (1989-2002) faculties.  

An authority on leadership, Thinkers 50 ranks Ibarra among the top management thinkers in the world. She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network, a judge for the Financial Times/McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award, one of Apolitica’s 100 most influential people in gender policy, a Fellow of the British Academy, the 2018 recipient of the Academy of Management’s Scholar-Practitioner Award for her research’s contribution to management practice, and serves on the Governing Body of the London Business School. 

She is the author of best-selling books including Act Like a Leader, Think Like a Leader and Working Identity:  Unconventional Strategies for Reinventing Your Career. Ibarra writes regularly in leading academic journals and business publications including the Harvard Business Review, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times.  

A native of Cuba, Ibarra received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale University, where she was a National Science Fellow.

He has held this role since February 2019 although his 13-year career with Huawei has spanned roles in Africa, France and the USA. Immediately prior to taking up his current role, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Huawei USA. Originally from China, Mr. Song pursued his Masters’ degrees in Technology and Management Information Systems from the University Joseph Fourier and in Industrial Logistics from INPG Grenoble.

Mr. Michael G Jacobides is the Sir Donald Gordon Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation and a Professor of Strategy at London Business School. He is an Academic Advisor to the Boston Consulting Group, a Visiting Scholar at the New York Fed, and a Visiting Fellow at Cambridge. As a leading expert on business ecosystems, and how firms navigate shifting, digital environments, he was selected as one of the top 50 management thinkers worldwide in 2019 and won the Practice Award from the StrategieForum in 2018. He obtained his PHD at the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Isbrand Ho is a Senior Director of BYD Company Limited, General Manager of BYD Auto Industry Company Limited and Managing Director of BYD Europe B.V. (located in the NL). Mr Ho, born in Hong Kong, was educated in the US at San Diego State University, California, and held a range of senior management positions in the electronics industry, including four years as a Director of Motorola. A theme of his career has been in delivering energy efficiency solutions to a range of industries. He joined BYD to head up its Europe operation in January 2013 and now heads a multi-skilled and multinational team of people based in Rotterdam. His responsibilities include sales of pure electric vehicles in the bus, taxi and forklift market sectors at present.

Mr. Yang currently serves as a Vice President of Geely Auto Group and an official spokesperson for Geely Holding Group. He is responsible for the public relations and corporate brand management of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Geely Group Motorsports, Group Corporate Social Responsibility and providing strong support to the coordinated development of multiple brands under the Geely umbrella.  Since joining Geely in January 2010, Mr. Yang has participated in many high-profile deals including the acquisitions of Volvo Cars, London EV Company, and Malaysia’s PROTON. He also served as the Deputy General Manager of Geely Automobile Sales Company and Executive Deputy General Manager of LYNK & CO. Mr. Yang has been instrumental in the creation of the new premium global brand Lynk & Co, pushing Geely into the high-end market segment.

Thomas Luk mainly focuses on large-scale performance transformations and digitalization initiatives in the automotive/ mobility industry as well as advising leading OEMs in product development, procurement, manufacturing to distribution. He is a recognized expert for electro-mobility and has managed countless international projects and various research initiatives in this field. He is also regarded as a specialist for the Chinese market, where he has been active for many years on behalf of global conglomerates, joint ventures, and local businesses.  Before joining A.T. Kearney, Thomas has served as associate principal at Mckinsey & Company and had experience of founding/investing in several internet startups.
